I can respect the political views of the right – but I cannot respect the flagbearer of the same, and it is hard to understand how others can.

If we look back at presidents like Johnson and Nixon, we can see, we now know, of the connivings, the treachery that both committed in their attempts to gain the presidency, keep it and keep the support of their constituents.

The difference is that neither were arrogant enough to openly publish and push things that were so contrary to the laws and ideals of this nation. The supporters of either man could point to accomplishments or sentiments that could be espoused with dignity – that cannot be said with the current administration.

I feel sorry for those decent people who feel they must support a person in order to support a party, now. But I do not respect the tradeoff and therefore I do not respect them today.

In the movie “Lincoln,” the president says to Alexander Stephens, the VP of the confederacy, in response to Stephens' query whether the war could end in time for a vote against the anti-slavery amendment: “Slavery, sir…is done!”

In the same way, the upcoming election has to remind our country and to say to the world" Denial of science and bigotry, the embarrassing and malignant leadership we have: IS DONE!

Fanning the flames of bigotry, violence and even the actual fires on our coast - IS DONE!!

Good people may disagree but they should not disagree that a person so malignant and contrary to American and human decency should not be retained.

If the Civil War did not finally end the amoral notions of an antebellum nation, then it must end now. It is done. It is not supportable by a people who adopted such a noble charter as the US Constitution.

Never in my lifetime have I seen a president who has not at least tried to appear to be the leader of the entire nation, those who voted for him or not.

I am tired of awakening to the 20 mph wind that is the daily ignorance expressed in tweets and trashtalk. It is exhausting and embarrassing.

If anything, your book helps to expose the differences between what a man tries to promote and be and what he actually thinks and does. And if it helped him a little to get elected - maybe it will help to get him out.

And If it does, it has value.
