Interesting article. I think Empathy is often confused with Hypersensitivity (the smoke detector set at 11). If you accurately perceive and feel the pain of another, you are empathetic. If you are hypervigilant, react to another and a perceived belief when it is false, you are hypersensitive.

Conjuring a belief that someone is ailing or feeling a certain way when it is not true is not empathy. Believing that a squirrel who steps on a leaf behind you in the park is actually a tiger helps neither the perceiver nor the object of perception.

Learning to downregulate hypersensitivity goes a long way towards improving relationships between Cluster "B"s and their companions or friends.

But, for sure, Cluster B issues, diagnoses and personalities need further research on effective treatments and efforts toward destigmatization.
