It was the Republicans' election to lose. The incumbent Democrats were sitting on inflation and an old president; and at the last minute, they nominated a black woman - tough sell.

But it is still remarkable that a person convicted of so many felonies and impeached twice, was elected. I'm not sure it would have happened 20 or 30 yrs ago.

But the US is not the only country going sideways now.
