Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself of your own advice. Finding love means willingness to take risks. From my experience, the longer someone remains single, the more difficult it is to be in a committed long term relationship. Lifelong love is an ideal but one worth working towards. Remember, it is the pursuit of happiness that we are guaranteed, not happiness itself.

Loving relationships require sacrifice for the better of the whole and compromise, things that are more difficult as we get more accustomed to running everything ourselves. Query whether those who claim to be happy as single are really saying so as a matter of resignation and rationalization.
